Wood burning stoves reduce Grid dependency!

MADE IN USA

You may not need a wood stove at the present time, but having one available at home or in the field is good insurance against going cold if the fuel deliveries stop. Even if you're in town, there are plenty of sources to find fuel wood for winter warmth. Building scraps, demolished buildings, wind-thrown trees and even shipping pallets could produce free heat for the family.

Our portable wood stoves can provide:

  • warmth

  • a flat cooking surface

  • warming tray

  • oven for baking

  • grate for cooking over coals or BBQ

  • hot water and;

  • water purification.

The Cylinder Stove's precise air flow control is the key to controlling temperature and burn rate. This equates to spending less time and energy gathering fuel. The optional hot water tank offers practical convenience while also storing heat through added thermal mass and releasing humidity into the air. The optional baking oven adds even more heating efficiency and practicality. The stove's quality construction speaks for itself.

Surefire Tip:

Boiling water will make it safe to drink by killing any microorganisms like Giardia and Cryptosporidium that frequently appear in streams, rivers and lakes. So, how many minutes should water boil before its safe to drink?  The correct answer is “0”. Bring the water to a rolling boil, let it cool down and it’s safe to drink.

"According to the Wilderness Medical Society, water temperatures above 160° F (70° C) kill all pathogens within 30 minutes and above 185° F (85° C) within a few minutes. So in the time it takes for the water to reach the boiling point (212° F or 100° C) from 160° F (70° C), all pathogens will be killed, even at high altitude."

BUILT TOUGH

5 of 5 Stars!

All joints are completely welded, corners are rounded, and rough or sharp edges are ground smooth. The top and door are made of 10 gauge(.135) steel, the rest is made of 12 gauge(.105) steel and 14 gauge(.075) steel. The round cylinder is a rolled piece of steel, not a barrel or piece of pipe.

WARP FREE DESIGN

5 of 5 Stars!

The top of the stove has braces welded underneath it to keep the cooking surface flat. The door has a square frame welded to the inside to keep it flat and insure a tight seal against the stove. The rounded cylinder allows the stove to expand and contract uniformly, virtually eliminating any warpage in the body of the stove. Ashes settle to the bottom of the round cylinder, keeping heat off tent floor and preventing stove burnout.

Surefire Tip:

Except during transport, leaving a layer of ashes in any wood burning stove will hold coals much longer and therefore make restarting a fire much faster and easier. Even a very small amount of hot coals will work. Just open the chimney damper to create a draft, pile both hot and cold coals up front near the open air vent, place more wood on top of the coals and leave the door slightly cracked until the fire restarts.

EFFICIENT

5 of 5 Stars!

A welded construction ensures air-tight operation. You can stoke the stove full of wood at night and shut the damper down and get a nice even burn overnight. The 1/8" steel used in Cylinder Stoves holds heat longer and gives off more radiant heat than a stove made of thinner sheet metal. More efficient fuel use means you will use less wood or coal and get more heat from what you use.

Stove Reviews

Hunter Stove

What a great stove! I brought my new stove on a week long camp in eastern WA in June but didn't plan to set it up since the weather is usually pleasant. The first day rained and the second day we got 2 inches of snow, and the constant wind changed my mind. The stove gave out great heat, and needless to say, we had everyone in the tent staying warm and happy (I think the horses would have been in there too if they knew I had it). It burns well and holds the heat, the dampers allow a great range of temperature, and we could usually find coals going the next morning. And it looks good, too. I didn't use the water tank until the last night, but figured out that having the water tank going gives enough humidity to keep the air from being really dried out. The only draw back is that with all the accessories stored in it, it is not only heavy but awkward to carry. I rigged up a handle to go between the leg sockets and the tie down loops which allowed me to carry it easier. An absolutely great stove that will accompany me on all my trips.

Outfitter Stove

Purchased my Outfitter Stove package about 7 years ago. It is one well made product! The construction is first class. Nice fit and welding. Everything fits and works as designed. Only thing negative to say is the weight, which you have to balance against the quality construction, which should last a lifetime.
Have used this on yearly fall Rocky Mtns. hunts and it works great in our 12x15 wall tent. Use it to cook on exclusively, we don't need any other stove. Will keep a fire overnight so you don't have to re-start it up in the morning and it will heat the tent to toasty warm.
I can't say enough good things about this stove, as I started with a M1950 Yukon surplus wood stove, no comparison.
